The Memphis Hash House Harriers (my mother and home kennel) has a tradition of live-laying every trail and as such, we are left with time on our hands after “Hares Away” and before ON-OUT.  Rather than stand around with our dicks in our hands just bullshitting, we do warm ups instead!

Warm ups are great for a few reasons: it fills the time after introductions; it gets the pack engaged and helps create excitement at the start of trail; and finally, they work really well as ice breakers when you have virgins on trail.  Personally, I was intimidated as hell at my first hash in 2011 as I was not a runner and only knew the Just that brought me.  Seeing everyone “doot doot doot”-ing and spinning in a circle with a beer over their heads during “Days of the Week” really helped me to not feel so nervous about looking foolish during an activity where I was definitely out of my comfort zone.

With all of that being said, here’s the warm ups that I’ve collected over the years, though I’m always looking for fun new ones (except Chicken Power Team…), so please drop me a line if you’ve got one for me to check out!
